چکیده
Small modular nuclear reactors (SMRs) represent a robust opportunity to develop low-carbon and reliable power with the potential meet cost parity conventional systems. This study presents detailed, bottom-up economic evaluation of 12 × 77 MWe (924 total) light-water SMR (LW-SMR) plant, 4 262 (1,048 MWe) gas-cooled (GC-SMR) 5 200 (1,000 molten salt (MS-SMR) plant. Cost estimates are derived from equipment costs, labor hours, material inputs, process-engineering models. The advanced SMRs compared natural gas combined cycle plants without post-combustion carbon capture large reactor. Overnight capital (OCC) levelized energy (LCOE) developed. OCC LW-SMR, GC-SMR, MS-SMR found be $4,844/kW, $4,355/kW, $3,985/kW respectively. LCOE $89.6/MWh, $81.5/MWh, $80.6/MWh A Monte Carlo analysis is performed, for which construction time LW-SMR have lower mean standard deviation than $5,233/kW $658/kW 90 % probability remaining between $4,254/kW $6,399/kW, while duration 4.5 years 0.8 3.4 6.0 years. impact economies scale, simplification, modularization, discussed. Additionally, policy implications direct subsidies tax on emissions explored.

متن کاملLicensing small modular reactors
Small modular reactor designs with power levels of less than 300 MWe are being developed in several countries. While there are several potential advantages with these reactors, they are also confronted with multiple challenges. Important among these challenges is to have these new reactor designs licensed by national regulatory bodies. Because of the many novel features incorporated in differen...
متن کاملTechno-economic Analysis of Small Scale Electricity Generation from the Lignocellulosic Biomass
In this study, the techno-economic analysis of lignocellulosic biomass conversion to electricity in a small scale power plant was conducted. The proposed process is based on the thermal pathway of electricity production from a carbon content feed. Woods, forest and agricultural residues were considered as the biomass feed, which are available extensively in Iran. Besides, the process benefits n...
متن کاملElectricity Generating Portfolios with Small Modular Reactors
This paper provides a method for estimating the probability distributions of the levelized costs of electricity. These probability distributions can be used to find cost-risk minimizing portfolios of electricity generating assets including Combined-Cycle Gas Turbines (burning natural gas), coalfired power plants with sulfur scrubbers, and Small Modular Reactors, SMRs. Probability densities are ...
متن کاملTechno-economic analysis of hybrid layered manufacturing
Subtractive manufacturing (CNC machining) has high quality of geometric and material properties but is slow, costly and infeasible in some cases; additive manufacturing (RP) is just the opposite. Total automation and hence speed is achieved in RP by compromising on quality. Hybrid Layered Manufacturing (HLM) developed at IIT Bombay combines the best features of both these approaches. It uses ar...
